The One Window Less Bug.

not our bug but still a 65
In 1989 we were living in Lac La Hatch British Columbia, I remember it being a bitterly cold morning, a morning that my family still talks about to this day. My mother was preparing us for the drive to our local school, our mode of transportation was a 65 Volkswagen beetle.I remember sitting at the front window watching mother running out into the bitter cold to start our little beetle, as she opened the air tight door "smash" the window shatters. OOOOH SH!T my mother proclaims, the damn window broke! Inside she ran grabbing for the broom and some cardboard and gaffer tape. Out she went back into the cold with a look of anger and determination that this bug would not get the best of her. She brushed the glass off the seat and went for the ignition, cough, cough, sputter, sputter, as the little 65 comes to life. She quickly went for the cardboard, fashioning a navy style plug for the window less bug. Within seconds it seemed she had the cardboard window in place and tapped. In she ran again, proclaiming victory over the beetle, "Come on Chris and Matt get your butts in the bug its time for school." Off we went 40 below and window flapping we made it to school on time.
