MY FIRST VW
by Bette
(Parksville)
Her name was Guinnivere and she was a bright yellow bug.
She was born in 1952 and purchased by me in 1970 for the grand sum of $300. I was on a break from university and spending an extended stay in Victoria. She took me sightseeing from Fable Cottage to Beacon Hill Park and all along the coast. She ran out of gas by the university (yes, even the reserve tank) and coasted down a convenient driveway to a little cottage where two elderly samaritans primed the tank so we could get to the nearest gas station.
Gwinny, as she was affectionately called, had her own little quirks too. Getting started was a challenge. It usually required a little push, worked better if parked on a hill. I don't know were she is today, I had to leave her behind when I returned to school. Thanks Gwinny for a wonderful ride.
