8/19/10, '68 Karmann Ghia

I have vague recollections of my Dad's bug when I was little. And I occasionally saw photos of his Karmann Ghia throughout childhood. I always liked the looks of the Karmann Ghia. So when I eventually became a teenager I decided I needed one. I had little money saved and no job so I bought what I could afford: a '68 with severely rusted floor pans that "might run" as the salvage yard owner put it. I quickly realized how foolish I was in thinking it wouldn't be too hard to fix. I had little mechanical experience and no where to work on it. I was lucky enough to sell it for what I paid for it a year later to an old man that was restoring one and just needed the bumpers and glass. I've since learned quite a lot about VW's. And I still plan on buying another Karmann Ghia. But now that I'm older and have more money, I'll buy one that's been restored.
